Granite Sealing Service For the Holidays Whether you decide to buy new countertops or refresh your existing ones, this post may give you a smile of insight. Let’s start out by saying where most of your foods are prepared. That is your kitchen countertops. I always ask people when was the last time your granite has been sealed and what has it been sealed with? Most care about the beauty of the stone and have no idea what sealer has been used. Let’s say you just bought a new home with beautiful granite tops. It may be shining, but what is making it shine? Are you willing to prepare a sandwich for your kid not knowing what that shiny liquid is? Granite is sold as a ‘Natural” product, but then to protect its beauty it is sometimes sealed with the cheapest toxic sealer on the market. Test your granite by putting a bead of water on top of it and time it. If the water is beading on there for awhile, it’s good. If it disappears into your Granite or Marble, then it needs to be addressed. Have you ever heard the phrase “you have to seal your tops every six months or year”? Reply to that phrase by pointing out that this is your second home and you only visit this home every six months or a year. Do you really have to schedule a granite sealer every time you visit Florida? Doesn’t that phrase sound lame now? I am well experienced in sealing and repairs in such materials as: Vetrazzo, Concrete, Epoxy, Avonite, Corian, PaperStones, Wood, Granite, Quartz, and even Formica Laminates. In any case If you have questions or concerns about stains, chips, profile edge change, adding backlighting drop edges, and Furniture repair.

Concrete Bar tops: First of all I only use GFRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) it costs more than the bags you see in big box stores, Sorry that i cannot buy cheaper mixes to meet your budget and compromise the integrity of durability. So, you are thinking about building an outdoor kitchen or want this material in your kitchen. This idea of yours is a great way to enhance resale value. We already know the kitchen is the command center of any home for potential buyers, So what do you think that potential buyer would do if they walk out into the backyard and see another kitchen? You can see them smile now as if they are visualizing all the Good Times to come, watching the kids play outside while cooking as friends and family are laughing and enjoying the great outdoors. Whether you choose to call this a Backyard Bistro or an Outdoor Oasis, We need to consider outdoor countertops? Outdoor kitchens used to be a Luxury, nowadays its mainstream especially here in Tampa Bay; we realize the backyard is basically another room. When Choosing Outdoor Countertops, Durability must come first, and looks second. Let’s take a look at a few of these materials to see what may work for your lifestyle. Concrete is a durable surface with many color options and design flexibility with items to mix in. Concrete countertop artists can actually add nice veining and designs. Just like granite, the lighter the color, the cooler the top, the smoother the texture, the more stain resistant it is, the better the sealer the easier the clean-up.
artistic countertops in Epoxy can be tinted, shaped, embedded tiles crunched up, sea shells, Logos, and personal items you would love to encapsulate for a conversation piece as a coffee table in your Man cave or She Shed. I have used broken stained glass pieces in the picture of this post.
If you want a FAN-tastic bar in your man cave, you can add Beer logos, favorite sport teams, logos and actual hockey pucks and sticks. Golf balls, baseballs, and football’s can be modified to meet the desired thickness. Fishing fans can put in lures, fish items and coral . Some look for custom tops and soon find out Custom in most cases means certain amount of colors to choose from and certain sizes.
So epoxy tops are CUSTOMIZED.
I have done a camouflage themed merchandise table for a hip hop artist; I have done a ocean floor scene for a scuba diver, Jewelry for gem stores, and many other themes.
Epoxy Rivers in tinted colors can be used to morph woods for tables you may have seen online. I even have used epoxy to stretch granite dimensions from my remnants. If you have a 36” cabinet and a 30” granite or marble top, I can break a river down the granite and stretch the size to 38” with a color river In the middle, rather than trying to have a double seam of granite. This technique is what I like to call Celebrate the Seam.
If you do have an idea or a desire for a WOW factor Top, epoxy can bring this idea to reality. concrete countertops is also great for outdoor applications
Vetrazzo slabs are made of 100% post consumer recycled glass and is set in a cement binder, not a petroleum resin binder. Vetrazzo is what I call the Superman of Surfaces. Great for outdoor applications and any other place you might typically use in Natural Stone. Fireplace mantles, Stair treads, banisters, etc. As you can see below Vetrazzo is made from Skyy Vodka bottles, Oyster Shells, Wine & beer bottles and clear bottle glass. artistic countertops concrete epoxy
Solid-surface countertops are man-made using a chemical process that combines plastic resins such as acrylic or polyester with mineral fillers. The result is a nonporous surface that is resistant to the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew. Countertops can be produced in three finishes: matte, satin and gloss.
As you can see in the picture above these materials can also be backlighted for bar tops and have the logo underneath, unique themed items such as tile and mirror chips. You can have little Hot peppers inlaid to theme a mexican restaurant, the ideas are endless.
Recycled Paper Countertops, Why Not?
Recycled Paper surfaces are beautiful, Strong, Durable and reliable as an alternative to popular materials that make you yawn. The different types of brands on the market today that we work with are composed of post-consumer recycled paper or FSC-Certified paper and a cashew nut oil-based phenolic resin. When I first heard of a Recycled paper as a countertop I laughed, but was willing to test its durability. I had to admit, its strength impressed me after I hit it with a hammer a couple times. I was impressed by this unique combination of cashew resin and recycled paper which is compressed into a rock slab. This is why I feel it’s a great choice for Architects, Designers and Homeowners who require the best in sustainable products. These materials are a high performance surface and backed by a 10 year warranty. It has extremely high impact resistance which is rated at 45,000 psi of direct force, I proved that with my hammer and a bowling ball. It is very stain resistant and can be done to meet most complex challenging designs that I always embrace. I used it already for outdoor signage, Countertops, unique inlays and a full shower surround. The heat resistance is comparable to high-end stone and engineered type surfaces.

send me dimensions and color options you desire to see If I have before buying a whole slab.
You may not want to use all of the same color on your project. For example, you can use basic Quartz for the perimeter of the kitchen, then perhaps do the island or breakfast bar in a Vetrazzo remnant.
